Vivian Manucy Maxey

Tybee Island – Vivian Manucy Maxey died peacefully at home on July 24, 2012, at the age of 71 surrounded by her family and friends. Vivian, known as Nana to all of her loved ones, was born in Savannah, GA. She was predeceased in her death by her father William Manucy and mother, Helen Beranc Manucy. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tybee Island.

Survivors include her children, Dwan Maxey Lester Lamar of Pooler, Winston Eugene Maxey, III Julia of Savannah, and Maria Maxey Etzle John of Rincon; grandchildren; Lamar Lester, III, Hunter Lester, Winston Maxey, IV, Helen Maxey, John Etzle, IV, Kathyrn Etzle, Sean Etzle, Bridget Carlson and brother William Joseph Manucy, Jr. Brenda.

A special thanks to all of her caregivers during her battle but especially Donna Strickland, Martha Noonan and Jimmy Hogan, all of whom tirelessly cared for Vivian.

Vivian was retired from St. Josephs Hospital where she worked for a number years in the data processing department and also the City of Tybee Island where she ran the Information Technology Department.

Vivian was a founding member of the Daughters of Ireland Savannah Chapter and a First Responder for the City of Tybee. Her hobbies included boating, bowling and traveling, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Michaels Catholic Church Tybee Island with the burial to follow immediately at Bonaventure Cemetery Greenwich Section.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be sent to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Tybee Island, GA.

I am so sorry to hear of Viviian's passing. She was a true friend to me during the years l lived on Tybee. She was always so helpful to me when I was on the planning commission and needed IT help. I remember sending a disc to Vivian to create copies from. I almost gave Tybee's computer system the 'wazzu' virus by mistake! Thankfully she caught it. Vivian was a lady that knew what she wanted. Brian and I had many great times with her and Martha on all our bowling trips. She loved life and everthing it offered her. Her trip to Maine and her time on Golden Pond was the best part of her trip. We will truly miss her.
